It finally got near freezing this morning so I went out and pulled my distributor.
Yes, I have ECZ-G heads. My intake is ECZ-B. My block is a 272 (thought I was getting a 292) ECZ-G.
My distributor is a FOMOCO FDS 1217 AZ 501...My question is, should there be a vacuum advance on this distributor? There is a slanted hole on the side with two little vertical holes on the case, that is all. Also, by turning the distributor, I was able to read the number and see the oil cap tube that was hidden before.
Should I just order a new rebuilt one or fuss with this old one?
Oh, I talked to a guy near me who has a 4x2 intake with two teapot carbs and linkage for sale for a 312 he said. Anybody interested? I also bumped into a mechanic who said he has 9 years rebuilding Y-blocks experience. Not bad for a small town of about 400 people!
