Ted,

This is exactly what I was referring to.  I understand how time consuming this would be.  You will have a good deal of time invested in just the manifold test.  Still it would be interesting to see how the various carbs stacked up against each other on a common manifold known to be good.  May be another time.

Good for you!It looked pretty good on the listing and I thought the price was very fair for a complete setup. When you get it let us know if it is as good as it looked!

Ted,

I ran my carbs together without progressive linkage, Maybe you do do a test of this nature, with progressive linkage and without.

I don't want to complicate things. But what would really be cool, once the best manifold is found.  Run a test on a set of each of the following carbs.

1.  original 97

2.  Speedway motor's, "super 97"

3.  Barry Grant's Demon 98.

For testing the various 3X2 intake manifolds, a single set of good carbs will tell the story as far as determining the attributes of each.  The Stromberg 97’s I’ve been using fits the bill for this.  I also have a matched set of Holley 2100’s (94’s) with linkages but will not pursue using these carbs during the 3X2 testing.

A carburetor test would be nice but like Bill says, a test of this nature would be expensive unless there were people out there with the various carb combinations that would be willing to loan them for testing.  A carburetor test should be performed on a single manifold and ideally on the best overall manifold so that differences in carb performances can be more accurately evaluated.  Setting up all the required carb linkages would be a task in itself.

I am relatively new to this forum and have been following this topic with interest because I plan to install a 3x2 setup on a relatively stock 292 in my '55 F-100.

Would be interesting comparison,! but ultimatly the high cost of these new ones will rule them out for most! x 3.

No Ted, I will not need it back soon, Columbus is fine. I have it all boxed and just printed up a label, headed to the post office shortly to put it in the mail.
