Finally finished my garage project and got back to working on cars, one of my priorities was finishing up my 301 build. Steel crank, .060" over 292. Mummert (Clay Smith) 272-s cam with matching springs. C1TE rods, Ross forged racing pistons, chrome moly push rods, Small letter G (Dearborn) heads, completely redone with guides and valves. Decked to .010" in the hole, heads shaved .030" and intake planed to match. B intake, 4100 carb. Rollmaster timing chain 4* advance.
Used Valvoline 20 - 50 racing oil (about the only thing available from 3 auto parts chains visited) Test stand made from old trailer with oil pressure guage, voltage regulator, temp and amp guage, Tack and adjustable timing light. Primed gas, fired up and held at 2000 rpm for 20 minutes, varying rpm once in a while. Motor never skipped a beat and sounds very strong.
Only problem was the water pump I chose to use weeped a bit. (thats what happens when you have excess stock and you just decide to take one clean it and try it)
Will post some pics and a video when I get a chance, I couldn't video the break in because I was short handed
