I ran 2 x 4s '56 teapots on my 322c.i. 312 with the supercharger cam C heads for 60,000 miles. It ran well, I also put an equilizer tube between them. No reason not to use the other carbs.
Mike, still lovin his 57 t'bird after 53 years!

Oldmics (11/19/2010) As Hoosier has pointed out in his car.The stock cam was original equipment in the dual quad setup.Same cam as the single 4 bbl engine.
While it would be benifical to use a hotter cam for increased preformance, its not necessary to go really wild.
Isky E2 cams or the blower grind(I have both for sale) has always been a good choice and would open up a dual quad engine.
OldmicsOldmics, Do you still have the cams for sale? Thanks for your time, Brian

I'm running the Ford 2x4 intkae and (2) 500cfm Edelbrocks in my 292 '58 Custom 300 with Fordo. What do you guys think would be a good cam for the street thats a little hotter than stock for this set-up?

55ebird I'm running dual Edlebrock #1404 (Performer) manual choke carbs on my car. I can't remember the cam grind #, but it's a Comp Cam with a .489 lift. As others have said, cam selection is dependent on several factors including whether you have an automatic or stick car. I'm running a T-5 manual and I really like the cam. All my parts and technical info are packed in boxes while my new shop is being built, but I'll see if I can find that info on the cam. rono

Steve: The regular teapots can probably be made to work on a 2-4 setup. The 2-4 carbs have different boost venturi, different orifices in fuel and air passages, different jets, softer secondary springs, and a balance hose between the secondary vacuum passages of the carbs so they open at the same time. In my opinion, your camshaft choice should be made based on your projected use of the car, not the fact that it has dual fours. I just returned from a parts run in my '56 Bird with factory dual fours, "G" heads, and the stock factory cam. It runs very well in town and on the highway.

I have been reading with great interest the recent post on tuning Edelbrock 1405 carbs for a dual quad set-up. I'm building a 1957 312 and have a 1957 factory dual quad manifold. I know the original carbs for that manifold (ECJ 9510-AA List 1437) are extremely rare and expensive. What i'm wondering is would other teapot carbs work instead, such as something like a ECZ 9510 List 1161? How are the dual-quad teapots different from other 1956 or 1957 teapot carbs. Also i went to the Edelbrock site and couldn't find any 1405 carbs. The recommended dual-quad carb was a 1403 (500 cfm). Are 1405 and 1403 similar carbs? Which would be preferred for a 312 application? Last question........what sort of cam specs should i run to adequately use the dual-quads potential. The heads i'm running are the 1957 312 heads (ECZ-G, 9.7/1 compression)
