Just trying to give you more options. Note what Marv said about the water pump flange. It's not that hard to move with a press.

Your best option is to install a two groove crankshaft pulley.

The part number is C3TZ-6312-C available from Carpenter $75.00.

or EARLY FORD V8 SALES 101 HOLLOW DR PIEDMONT, SC 29673 (864) 845-7878 $75.00

This is the crank pulley F500 and F600 trucks with 292's used. It uses the narrow belts like the 57's did and both sheaves are same diameter so will not have a conflict with speed ratios. The dual WP pulleys mostly are narrow belt also.

Here is the WP pulley I used

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-1969-Ford-Mustang-Mach-1-Cougar-C7OE-8509-D-Water-Pump-Pulley-289-302-351W-/221041391507?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item337717f793&vxp=mtr

The pulley you have found is a smaller diameter so will spin the fan faster, not a problem either.

Some of the y block water pump hub's are not set properly for a good belt alignment. I have had to occasionally press the water pump hub on further to align belts properly. Alignment is very critical using a dual belt set up to obtain proper tension on each belt.

How would that help me? I don't have power steering... The outer groove of the 2 groove alt lines up perfect with the outside of the crank pulley, but the water pump pulley is in the way, getting the 3 groove water pump pulley would put a groove on the outside (Closer to the radiator), which would make it a breeze.

I'll recheck mummert though for something i can use

This pulley was off a 4 cyl car. Did the 4 cyl have v belts still?? I don't know the newer stuff that well.
The pull-yur-part had it listed as a 87 however who knows all the history.

Marv. I honestly don't know. My daughter had an 84 or 85 mustang 4cyl. It did not have the serpentine setup. That would make sense then if it's a four banger pulley. It's a little hard to follow Ford some times.

Marv, That's interesting. I had a girl friend with a '79 mustang, 5 liter. One year only car, by '80 they'd gone to the 255 thingie. That car had a serpentine belt. I remember because I had to change the tensioner in a Florida parking lot with a screwdriver and a pair of Chinese water pump pliers. It was about a 110 degrees. You do not forget those jobs!!

Frank

I think you are correct in the 87 having the serpentine belt.

I see the 86 and older use the v belts and 87 the serpentine so looks like 87 was first year of the serpentine.

The car must have been an 85 or 86 model then.

I only found the dual pulleys are on the AC cars.
