I am somewhat confused by an engine on Ebay -
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251250363173?item=251250363173&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtrThe engine has the raised aspirin sized dot on the crank flange. Mummert's web site, "How to identify a 312" - says that "not all 312 cranks have this aspirin size raised dot". I thought this meant that if the dot was present , the engine was a 312. However it could still be a 312, even if the dot was missing. It also says that a 312 has ECZ main caps and that all others are EBU. The engine on ebay has the raised dot but it has EBU main caps, which to me seems contradictory. Mummert also says that he caps are "the only positive way to identify a 312". So, my question is, do engines other than 312s have the aspirin sized raised dot on the crank flange?
