Rono, thanks for posting the pictures. I don't think that would work on my Ranch because it is painted in the mounting area. I believe only Hardtops and Ragtops have chrome (stainless?) in that area.

Don't know if the following will help on a 55 or 56 Ford. (clearance may be an issue?) But I was able to mount similar mirrors to the ones in the posted photos, on a 57 hardtop car, by attaching them on the lower forward area of the door in front of the A pillar. The previous mirrors were mounted ahead on the fenders and I found the passengers side mirror in particular, virtually useless. Mounted on the front area of the door, they work reasonably well, although if they could be bigger it would be helpful..

I forgot to add make sure the mirror does not interfere with your vent window.

The mirror location on the door from the template is using the front screw as a guide. From top edge of door locate screw position with a pencil mark 1 1/2". go straight to front edge of the door and back up the mark 2 1/2". Tape the mirror to the door for location to see if you like how it looks and if it works for seeing angles for safety. Do the same for the passenger side as well, you would want the sides to match. I put the location on my sunliner at 2"s from the top edge and 5 1/4"s from front edge which worked better for me but do what works for you. Hope this helps.

If you are looking for repro mirrors you might want to check Bob Drake.I have seen his items and they look to be good quality and the sell for less than Carpenter.

Guys; Sorry for the delay in responding. I am still out on a motorcycle road trip and using the wife's computer that does not have my picture files. I'll be back tomorrow night and post some pictures on Tuesday. Rono
