Once I get this part hooked up hopefully I'll be able to see what spring connects to...can't be very far. Believe the bracket had not been attached to block because there were no loose bolts in area to mount it and I don't remember taking it off to pull engine, also it appearers engine may have been rebuilt not so long ago...may never know.

Now have bracket and SPRING hooked up and if it is not right...it does work.

There are two pieces on left with holes that may or may not be for something, could be for another application. Why didn't I paint this junk while apart? The larger spring is the one in question...as it is now not rubbing against other parts

There is grove at top where spring is seated, can anyone say if this is correct ...or close? If nothing else learning how to take pictures, too bad I didn't take pictures before disassembly...next time. Anyone out there ready to tear into engine..TAKE BEFORE PICTURES !!!

Post a pic of the rest of the linkage that you have.Maybe the piece that the spring hooks to is missing or broken off.

The puzzle is coming together...wondered why the mystery part looked like overkill then today realized it stabilized end of throttle linkage and piece was broken off.

Ouch!

Shouldn't be too hard to make new one of these. Still don't see where other end of spring attaches???

Spring attaches to only other hole on the bracket!

Hey Aussiebill. That one in your pic is for 4bbl,same as mine. The original pic does not appear to have a piece taken off.Is the original for a 2 bbl setup maybe?

Mark, the one i posted is common on all of our 272 engines and they are 2 bbl,s either stromberg or holley. regards bill.

On checking the one on my LHD 56 sunliner,312, it has similar support, otherwise what supports the accel linkage end ?
